About Us

DTC Sports evolved from the Darwin Tennis Centre, which began operations on July 10th, 1985.

DTC as it became known was established with a view to providing social court hire to Darwin's Tennis Players. It offered 6 synthetic grass courts for hire, Saturday evening social tennis and tennis coaching.

Mr Greg Murdock was the original Centre Manager as well as being one of the original business partners.

In September 1986 Greg left the partnership. The facility and business has been managed by Pat Coburn ever since.

In Mid 1989 the Centre laid Darwin's only two rebound ace courts.

In 1997, both Beach Volleyball and Bike Hire were introduced to the Centre, making the Darwin Tennis Centre a multi sport facility.

In 2000, the Centre revolutionised tennis coaching in Darwin by introducing Game Sense coaching. From this experiment with game sense coaching evolved 'The Rally Method' of coaching which DTC Sports continue to use with fantasic participation and player development results.

In June 2000, the Centre staged its first of three NT Tennis Championships. Under DTC management, the event received a considerable boost in sponsorship, media profile and player interest.

On the 1st of January, 2003, the Darwin Tennis Centre changed its name to DTC Sports.

On January 9th, 2003, work began on converting two tennis courts at DTC Sports into 5-aside Football fields.

In January 2005 DTC Junior Ashlee Brown won the Australian 16 and under National Singles title. Ashlee has since gone on to represent Australia and continues to play tournaments all around the world as she chases her dream of playing in a grand slam event.

In a bid to exptend its business into the corporate market in July 2007 DTC Sports opened its conference training room.
